Public Services and Procurement Canada (PSPC)

In 2012, CIMVHR entered into an agreement with Public Services and Procurement Canada (PSPC) to assist with finding specialized teams to conduct research that would meet the needs of Defence Research and Development Canada (DRDC), Canadian Forces Health Services Group (CF H Scvs Gp) and Veterans Affairs Canada (VAC). CIMVHR, along with DRDC, CF H Svcs Gp and VAC are interested in optimizing the health and well-being of Canadian military personnel, Veterans and their families by harnessing and mobilizing a national capacity for high impact research, knowledge creation and knowledge exchange.

True Patriot Love Foundation

True Patriot Love Foundation is a national charity dedicated to providing essential support and resources to Canadian military members, Veterans and their families. The foundation believes in the importance of research and establishes evidence-based programs, while increasing access to programs and treatments dedicated to advancing the health and well-being of military personnel, Veterans, and their families.

Through a 10-year partnership with CIMVHR, the True Patriot Love Foundation is supporting cutting-edge research projects and program evaluations across Canada. True Patriot Love Foundation and CIMVHR are working to strengthen the dissemination ties between CIMVHR’s established network of academia, government supporters and other stakeholders to ensure that evidence-based research can be rapidly translated into practice, policies and programs.

This year, five projects have received funding awards through CIMVHR and True Patriot Love’s partnership. The research supported has focused on priority research areas, including but not limited to military family health, transition, mental and physical health, health system utilization, diversity within the Canadian Armed Forces, and chronic pain.

IBM Canada Ltd.

Through the joint efforts of CIMVHR, IBM Canada Ltd., and Babcock Canada Inc., the Advanced Analytics Initiative was established for the purposes of funding cutting-edge research focused on improving the health of Canadian military personnel, Veterans and their families. The establishment of the Advanced Analytics Initiative was made possible through the requirement for Babcock and IBM to meet Industrial and Technological Benefits (ITB) credits for Canadian defence contracts.

From 2017 to 2018, six projects were selected for support in the form of funding for staff and in-kind access to IBM advanced analytics tools and expertise. The research supported through the initiative leverages ‘big data’ analytics, machine learning, and other approaches to health solutions for Canadian military personnel, Veterans and their families.
